Why is participantId missing from my export?
Connect adds participantId only when automatic ID capture is on, and the name is case sensitive. Check the project's settings, then test the link with ?participantId=TEST.
Setup guide: CloudResearch Connect
Connect adds each participant's ID to your study link. ConductCognition saves it, runs the tests and returns the participant to Connect with a redirect or a completion code.
You need a ConductCognition study with its tests chosen, and an account with CloudResearch Connect. The open link works while the study is active. Names in the steps match the ConductCognition screens and CloudResearch Connect's help pages.
In ConductCognition, open your study. In the Recruitment panel, select Turn on the open link, choose CloudResearch Connect as the recruitment platform, and select Save. The link works while the study is active.
Select Copy link. The Connect link has no placeholders, because Connect adds the IDs itself.
https://app.conductcognition.com/join/abcd2345efgh6789In Connect, paste the link as the project URL and turn on automatic ID capture. Enter participantId exactly as written: it is case sensitive, with a capital I. assignmentId and projectId are optional and are saved with each participant when Connect sends them.
Connect asks for either an end-of-study redirect or a completion code. Paste Connect's redirect URL into the Completion URL field in ConductCognition, or enter Connect's code in the Completion code field. Participants get either one only after every test is complete.
Yes, for untimed tests: 15 untimed tests run on phones and 17 on tablets. Timed tests need a desktop or laptop with a mouse or trackpad. A phone that cannot run every test in a study is stopped before the consent form. On an open study link, that person is not counted and uses no credit. Say so in the Connect project description.
Open the link with ?participantId=TEST&assignmentId=TEST&projectId=TEST added, finish the tests, and check the redirect or code and the participant list. A test run uses one participant place or credit.
Publish the study in Connect. After the first participants finish, open the Study Quality Monitor to see which sessions are valid, need review or are invalid, and why.
Export the score CSV. Each row has the Connect ID in external_id, url_assignmentId and url_projectId, and participant_source set to open_link.

Amazon Mechanical Turk permanently closed on September 30, 2026, and CloudResearch retired its MTurk Toolkit on the same date. Connect is a separate participant platform, set up with the steps on this page.

The same participant ID continues the same participant record and does not use a second credit or allowance place. The participant continues from the next unfinished test, and a test that was interrupted starts again.
Set a Screen-out URL in the Recruitment panel. Participants who select I do not agree on the consent screen are sent there; without it they see a message and can close the page.

CloudResearch Connect can change its screens and rules. If a step here no longer matches, follow CloudResearch Connect's page and tell us through the question button so we can update this guide.
